10 Journal Prompts for Toxic Relationships, Heal Your Past and Find Peace In Your Future

These journal prompts for toxic relationships will help you think about how the relationship has affected you, what your boundaries are, and how you can move on.
What is a Toxic Relationship?
Put simply a toxic relationship is one in which the partners are involved in an unhealthy, destructive, or otherwise bad relationship. Typically one person is abusive, manipulative, and often aggressive to the other.
This type of relationship is not just unhealthy for the two people involved in it but also for their friends and family. It can have a negative impact on the people who care about them.
A toxic relationship is often characterized by an imbalance of power. One person may be more powerful than the other, either socially, economically, or physically. The abuse can take many forms: physical violence; emotional manipulation; verbal abuse; sexual abuse; and financial control.
There are many reasons why people stay in toxic relationships. They may feel that they are not good enough for anyone else, or they may be too scared to be alone. But most of the time, it is because the person they are with has some kind of control over them.

Breaking Free and Recovering from a Toxic Relationship
It can be difficult to break free from a toxic relationship because the person who is being abused feels like this is all that they deserve and have ever known, so they don’t know any other way to live their life. This is caused by a lack of self confidence which perpetuates the cycle.
The process of recovering from a toxic relationship is not an easy one. It can take months or even years to fully recover from the emotional damage that has been done. It tends to be an ongoing process.
Although it takes time and perseverance to heal the wounds that have been created by a toxic relationship there are many ways to get back on your feet.
It is important to make sure that you are taking care of yourself during this time rather than focusing on what your ex is doing or who they are dating. You should make sure you are eating healthy, staying active, and spending time with people who care about you rather than those who bring you down.
